Frestems Oy designs and manufactures equipment for military ambulances. One of the main products is a wall-mounted stretcher loading system ProMIL 245. Complex mechanics combined with diverse ambulance fleet was challenging for sales, as adaptation to the customer’s ambulance required a roundtrip to the design department.
Using Unity 3D we developed a configurator tool where the system can be adapted to a model built from the customer vehicle’s measurements. The application can be used to change the key parameters and simulate the trajectories of the system. Other equipment can also be added to the ambulance to verify that the layout is functional. The loading system can be observed and moved realistically in virtual reality using VR goggles and controllers.
Used technologies: Unity 3D and SteamVR.
